touring

Yesterday, the rain that has been pelting us daily these days miraculously held off and we wandered the grounds of Shelburne Museum. These are the kinds of trips that I made with my grandparents. Old farms, ancient wagons lined up in a restored barn, vintage schoolhouses and general stores. We spent hours and days of my childhood summers wandering through museums and displays and historic sites. And now it's their turn. Round and round the old carousel, along the model circus train, into the blacksmith's shop to watch the coals heat up. Up and down the decks of the Ticonderoga paddleboat they ran, through the old train cars. A lovely day. Long, but lovely.
